Mostly when we want to run a certain program, we get prompted by a warning that prevents us from running the program unless we have administrator privileges. Running a program as an administrator is different from a normal user. Running a program as an administrator can be done in two ways; either we can do this by using the start menu feature or from any folder on the hard drive.

Running Applications As An Administrator:

There are two ways to access the programs as discussed earlier. One of the first ways could be to access them from the Start Menu.

Accessing Programs From Start Menu:

  • Go to Start Menu and then into the Programs menu.
  • Locate the program that you wish to initialize.
  • Upon the program of your choice, press Shift and then Right click on it.
  • Choose the option Run As Administrator from the drop down menu that pops up.
  • If you’re the administrator, then you would only have to press Yes on the UAC that pops up, otherwise if you know the Administrator password, enter it in the dialog box that shows up.

Accessing Programs From Any Folder:

The procedure is mostly similar, except this time you would have to locate the executable from your hard drive and would have to press Shift and repeat the process explained for accessing them through your start menu.
